WBB EXPERIENCE | Social Impact

WBB believes that effective leadership is not only about personal reflection and growth, but also about collaboration with others to make a social impact. The three universities offer a variety of opportunities for the service-minded students.

Global Social Impact (GSI) Project

WBB students are given the unique opportunity to partake in a course called Global Social Impact, a WBB program that gives the students the chance to develop social impact consulting skills through hands-on experience. The course will focus on issues related to social impact. Students work in teams to complete a consulting project for an NGO, social entrepreneurs or government sector located in South America. They will also travel to South America at the end of spring semester to meet and present their findings to the field partners.

Social Entrepreneurship & Venture Philanthropy Course

WBB students may also attend the HKUST course "Social Entrepreneurship & Venture Philanthropy" with MBA and other postgraduate students. This practitioner-driven experiential learning course offers a unique student-directed venture philanthropy fund, which will be awarded to one of the social ventures with which the student teams work throughout the course. Students will learn how to use business concepts and strategies to address social and sustainability issues, by thinking outside the box and taking calculated risks.

WBB EXPERIENCE | International Study Tours

While WBB students study and live on three continents, we want to provide them with even more first-hand experience to learn about different markets and cultures. WBB study tours allow the students to learn from experienced faculty members as they travel to different parts of the world in Asia, Americas and Europe. Local company visits, management talks, networking events and cultural experience sessions with local executives will be arranged to enable the students to gauge the market situation up close and gain experience-based market insights.

WBB EXPERIENCE | Business Competitions

Starting from freshman year, WBB students can participate in different local and international business competitions to test their mettle against other students around the world. Students may form their own team of diversified global talents to participate in the competition, or they may join the famous case teams at each university, such as USC’s Marshall Case Team and HKUST’s Case Analysis Team (CAT). In Year 2, all WBB students receive a semester-long training from HKUST faculty and develop their analytical, problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills in a fast-paced setting. Three winning teams will be sent to global business competitions.
